BEST Oil Change Video: Oil Change on a 2016 Chevy Cruze LT (Turbo 1.4L)

Changing the oil on a 2016 Chevy Cruze LT with the turbocharged 1.4L engine is fairly straight forward, but if you've never done it before, this video walks you through the process. Tools and Supplies Needed: New engine 5W-30 Engine Oil (DEXOS certified) New oil filter Socket set with a 10mm & 24mm sockets Oil drain pan Funnel Jack & jack stands or ramps Gloves & rags Safety glasses Park the Vehicle: Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged. Run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up. Warm oil drains out more completely. Then, turn off the engine and let it cool slightly so it's warm but not hot. If you have recently driven the vehicle, you may skip this step. Lift the Vehicle: Jack Up the Car: Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle. Place jack stands or ramps under the vehicle for safety. Drain the Old Oil: Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the oil pan, which is at the lower part of the engine. Use a 10m socket or wrench to carefully remove the drain plug. Let the old oil drain into the oil pan. Be cautious as the oil might be hot. Clean and Replace the Drain Plug: Once the oil has fully drained, clean the drain plug and replace it. Tighten it securely but do not over-tighten. Replace the Oil Filter: The oil filter is found on the side of the engine. Use a 24mm socket to remove the old filter. Be prepared for some residual oil to spill out. Prep & Install the new filter: Apply a small amount of oil to the rubber gasket on the new oil filter. Screw it on by hand until it's snug, then tighten it slightly with the socket. Be careful not to over-tighten. Add New Oil: Locate the Oil Fill Cap on the top of the engine. Using a funnel, pour 4.25 quarts of the new oil into the engine. Check Oil Level: After adding oil, replace the filler cap and start the engine. Let it run for a minute, then turn it off and wait a few minutes. Check the oil level using the dipstick. Add more oil if necessary to reach the correct level. Check for Leaks: Inspect Under the Vehicle: Check for any leaks around the oil filter and drain plug. Properly Dispose of Old Oil: Take the used oil and filter to a recycling center or an auto parts store that accepts used oil. Lower the Vehicle: Remove Jack Stands or Ramps: Carefully lower the vehicle back to the ground. Final Check: Ensure Everything is Secure: Double-check that the drain plug, oil filter, and oil filler cap are properly secured. Check Oil Level One Last Time: Ensure it is within the recommended range. Always refer to your vehicle's owner’s manual for specific details related to oil change intervals, oil specifications, and other maintenance information. If you're unsure or uncomfortable performing the oil change yourself, it's a good idea to take your vehicle to a professional mechanic.

Vehicle Story:

From the time I was 17 until I was 20, I was a die-hard Evo fanboy. In my mind, it was the king of all cars. Even watching Clarkson review both on Top Gear, I always sided with the Evo. My good friend Matt, AKA SubaruWRXFan (Now 'Matt Maran @mattmaranmotoring), was a die-hard STi fan. In fact, we rode the bus together & any time he saw a WRX or STi, he would giggle like a school girl, pretty much the same way he does on his YouTube channel when he does a pull in a fast car. Lol. I never understood his obsession with STi's. At the time, the Evo seemed to be so aggressive &; sick, while the STi was much more reserved & tame, almost boring in fact. It just didn't appeal to me at all really. Well, I joined the USAF & went off to basic training. While there, every day the same '09 STi hatchback(white W/CF hood, fenders, & accents) drove by. I wasn't allowed to turn my head while in formation, but I couldn't help but stare at it out of the corner of my eye. After 8 weeks, the rumble of that flat four started to resonate in my heart & grew a passion deep in my soul. After I graduated tech school, I moved to South Carolina & immediately started looking high & low for STi's. I was desperate, I needed on ASAP! I didn't care what year or color it was. It took several weeks of searching, but I saw a for sale listing pop up on the South East NASIOC forum I was stalking. I jumped on it! I contacted the seller within an hour of him posting it & asked to see it. Two weeks later I was learning how to drive stick for the first time in my new-to-me 2006 Hawkeye STi. I purchased it on December 14th, 2010 with 73K on the odometer. 14 years later, after racking up an additional 80K miles, after replacing the engine twice (both times were caused by other parts failing), and despite being crashed into 3 separate times, I can honestly say that I love my car more now than ever before. I have named this car Aurora. because she is something very special to me. I look back at how much it has changed over the years, & I look at how much I have changed as well, then I realize that both Aurora and I have grown together. This was the car I learned to drive manual on, the first car I purchased on my own & have in my name, the car that safely allowed me to drive 700+ miles home in terrible winter weather to see my family for the holidays. I want this car to be something I can share with & pass down to my future kids someday. I have absolutely no intentions of selling my STi. To do so, would be like selling a piece of my life.
